Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon

Mr Manaf Khatib is a consultant plastic surgeon based in London and Hertfordshire. His NHS practice is based at the Lister Hospital – East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. He has subspecialist interests in the following areas:

Mr Khatib qualified from St George’s University of London in 2010 with a distinction in medical sciences and a merit in clinical practice. He then undertook a 2-year foundation programme in academic surgery at Imperial College London after competitive selection, where he was part of a team developing a hernia repair surgical simulation model. This work was subsequently published in the American Journal of Surgery. Mr Khatib has also co-authored a textbook on dermatology, ophthalmology, and ENT.

In parallel to his clinical training, he completed a Masters of Science in Surgical Sciences at the University of Edinburgh and received a distinction on his work researching the use of LASER Doppler imaging in burn depth assessment.

Mr Khatib went on to pursue his core surgical training and then his specialist plastic surgery training at Cambridge University Hospital, the Lister Hospital, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital has also trained at the internationally renowned St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns. During training, he won multiple awards including the Douglas Harrison Prize for his research in facial palsy and smile reanimation. He has also co-authored a book chapter on facial palsy surgery.

In 2020, he completed his training in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery and was awarded the BAPRAS/BAAPS aesthetic surgery fellowship based at the Cadogan Clinic in London. He has also completed another prestigious aesthetic surgery fellowship at the Wellington Hospital in London. He further underwent specialist fellowships at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital specialising in autologous microvascular head & neck and breast reconstructive surgery. Following that he underwent another microsurgery fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital specialising in breast and sarcoma reconstruction.

Mr Khatib is one of the few plastic surgeons in the UK having completed both UK and EU plastic surgery board examinations. He continues to lecture nationally and publish in the medical literature.
